ALDO is a Canadian footwear and accessories brand, founded in Montreal in 1972 by Aldo Bensadoun. More than five decades later it operates in more than 100 countries, and it is still built on the same idea: fashion led shoes, bags and accessories priced to be worn rather than saved for.
The story
From Montreal to the world
ALDO began on a small scale, as a concession inside a local department store. Its first shoe, which the brand calls the Frida clog, was an early success, and that momentum led to the first standalone ALDO store on Rue Sainte Catherine in Montreal.
Footwear was already in the family. Aldo Bensadoun is the son of a shoe merchant and the grandson of a cobbler, and the company he built was never meant to feel traditional or nostalgic. From the start it read as younger, more modern and more accessible than the trade it came out of.
Montreal is still part of the brand’s identity. ALDO describes the city as a crossroads of cultures, ideas and styles, and says its designers still work with that same curiosity.

The style
Contemporary fashion, an accessible approach
ALDO does not present itself as a luxury house, and it is not a basics brand either. It sits in between: trend aware enough to feel current, wearable enough to last past one season.
Rather than one rigid design language, the brand usually works through details. An unusual heel, a polished finish, metallic hardware, a texture, a seasonal color, or a bag shape that changes the feel of an otherwise simple outfit.
The result is a range where individual pieces can look very different from one another and still belong to the same fashion world.

Everyday style
From daily wear to occasion pieces, in a consistently current register.
Bags and accessories
Handbags, wallets and small leather goods that echo the footwear.
Shoes
Heels, slingbacks, sandals, flats and easy everyday styles.
Lower impact materials
Recycled polyester, algae based EVA and plant based alternatives in selected products.
Versatility
From day to night
One of ALDO’s strengths is the way it moves between everyday dressing and occasionwear. A neutral sandal, a polished slingback or a structured bag can work with tailoring, denim or an evening dress.
That versatility is the point. The same shoe reads completely differently depending on what surrounds it, which is what makes the brand useful for anyone who wants fashion forward pieces without tying them to a single event.

Where ALDO stands on materials
ALDO says it is working toward Net Zero by 2050 and has introduced lower impact materials across parts of its range. The company is a member of the Leather Working Group and states that 99 percent of its leather products currently use LWG certified materials.
That does not make ALDO a sustainability first label, and we would not present it as one. It does show an effort to deal with materials and sourcing inside a very large global business, which is worth knowing when you are choosing between similar pieces.

ALDO today
ALDO Group reports more than 1,500 stores in more than 100 countries. Alongside ALDO it runs Call It Spring, and it works in design, sourcing and distribution for a wider portfolio of footwear and accessories brands.
The ALDO brand itself stays focused on fashion footwear and accessories built around self expression, confidence and wearable design.
ALDO on LOREN STANDARD
Our ALDO coverage is not going to be a feed of everything new. It focuses on the pieces worth knowing: the shoes that work beyond one occasion, the bags that finish a look, and the details that make an accessible price feel considered.
We love products. Not logos.
