Some shoes you buy for one occasion. Others you reach for again and again - for work, for evenings out, for the weekend.
At Nine West, most of the shelves speak the second language: low-heel ankle boots, pointed pumps, slingbacks and bags in quiet shades of black, taupe, khaki and burgundy.
This isn’t a brand that tries to surprise you every season. It tries to be the one that always has the pair you’re missing.

9 West 57th Street
Nine West was founded in 1978 in New York by Jerome Fisher and Vincent Camuto, who had previously worked together importing shoes from Brazil. The name came from the address of their first office: 9 West 57th Street in Manhattan.
The brand’s first store opened in 1983 in Stamford, Connecticut. From there it grew into a store chain and later expanded into bags, accessories and watches. In 1999 it was acquired by Jones Apparel Group.
In 2018 the American company filed for bankruptcy, and its stores in the US and Canada closed. The brand itself was sold to Authentic Brands Group, and today it operates mainly through licensing, its website and retailers such as Macy’s and Kohl’s.

Nine West in Israel
In Israel the story is a little different. The brand arrived in 1999, and the Brill Group holds the exclusive franchise. The Israeli stores kept operating after 2018, and today there are dozens of locations across the country.
That is exactly what we saw in the store we visited: a full seasonal collection of ankle boots, pumps and bags, arranged by color and by look.

What We Tried On at Nine West
Real bags and shoes from the store, worn

What You See on the Shelves
Pointed toes, low slim heels, slingback straps and ankle boots that end just above the ankle. The colors keep coming back to black, taupe, khaki, olive and burgundy, with touches of suede, patent leather and woven texture.
The bags speak the same language: hobo bags, structured totes, quilted bags with chains and bags in the brand’s monogram print.

Marilyn Monroe x Nine West
In May 2026 the brand launched a capsule for Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday: four styles, including rhinestone pumps, a platform sandal and a slingback.
It is also a good example of what Nine West does today: it takes a classic code and turns it into a pair of shoes you can actually wear.
What We Look For at Nine West
We are not looking for the boldest shoe in the store. We are looking for the pair that is missing: a black low-heel ankle boot that works with any jeans, a taupe pump that goes with everything, or an olive bag that adds color without trying too hard.
And we check comfort. A low, slim heel looks great in a photo - but it also has to last a full day.
Not the loudest shoe in the store, but the one you’ll wear the most.
Nine West at THE LOREN STANDARD
Our coverage will focus on the styles worth knowing: the ankle boots and low heels that come back season after season, the bags that finish a look, and the times when an accessible price really does look polished.
We love products. Not logos.
